PROJECTS - it is lovely to be able to participate creatively in different projects!
The Three Sisters - a challenge.

The Three Sisters - this piece is my response, to a very patient artist based in Canada, who sent me a beautiful swatch of fabric, as a challenge cue to make something. You can see the fabric in the top left of the photo here. My subsequent daily painting, one of several ideas which the design prompted, is also in the photo at the top.
The title of the piece came from a visit to Glencoe, and a walk between two of its Three Sisters to the Lost Valley. The idea of these three female figures - rather weather-beaten, but full of colour and energy nonetheless, grew.
For this piece I wanted - the link between nature, the earth, the cosmos, time passing. I wanted texture and colour and weather-beateness. Stag's head femininity. Artistic licence with the subject matter? Of course!

January 2014: I took part in the Artists Swap Box Project - organised by Creative Communities - this was a really fun and rewarding project to get involved in. Participants were paired with another artist, to whom we sent a shoe box size package of inspiration, some of our own work, care and loveliness. Here's what I sent as part of my shoe box:
