I also took part in Drawing August, a challenge to draw something every day in August. I decided at the beginning that I would like to work in my sketchbook more and am happy to say that I completed the challenge and very much enjoyed it. This challenge was based on twitter (type in #DrawingAugust in to the search facility there) and as well as the the work I made, there were also the rewards of taking part, being part of a community and connecting with other artists.
The results were varied - I used ink, felt pen, pencil, paint - and just let myself work without restriction of subject. I may have confounded the people who follow me to see my abstract painting (stick around - there will be more of that, never fear). In my sketchbook, I 'found' - a long haired lady who likes to dance, sleep, spin lotus flowers and talk to the moon, a gang of Notorious Pandies in cartoon style, flowers and grave markers, a Scottish pun, a quote from a concert I attended, best of all I found different parts of myself as an artist. Below are some of my August offerings, you can see them all here in my gallery.
September is now here and, though less frequent, I will write again soon...............further on up the road.
PAINTING STATUS: Onward! Many ideas to capture, brushes to ruin, hair to matt.................
WRITING STATUS: Forms, this blog. Thankfully, reason won out and I did not attempt the 3 day novel competition. (!!)
READING STATUS: I was recently lucky enough to win a copy of Dinah Jefferies' - 'The Separation' via the author and Stylish Living London. I thoroughly enjoyed this rather exotic novel, set in England and Malaysia at the time of the 1950's emergency. I do, so love, books that take your mind and imagination away into other worlds and times.
COFFEE STATUS: I find, I am not a lover of hazelnut coffee.
WILDCARD: Was the Ace of Hearts we saw on a grave recently a wildcard? (same place my Graven Angel sketch came from). Summoning...................
